When water and other materials go down the drain, it’s often thought that these things are gone forever right? This is not the case. In fact, the water from your home travels miles through sewer lines before it reaches the treatment plant, Central Valley Water Reclamation Facility (CVWRF). Flushing the wrong materials can cause issues in the sewer system resulting in sewer backups within the community and even your home. To avoid this expensive problem, we need your help

What Not to Flush

Listed below, are items that should never be disposed of through a drain. Place these items in the trash:

• Wipes (including those labeled "flushable")
• Baby wipes and diapers
• Rags
• Paper towels
• Cotton swabs and cosmetic pads
• Plastic bags
• Syringes, needles and razor blades
• Candy and other food wrappers
• Clothing labels
• Cleaning sponges
• Toys
• Plastic items of any description
• Aquarium gravel
• Kitty litter (including types labeled "flushable")
• Rubber items such as latex gloves and condoms
• Cigarette butts
• Sanitary napkins, tampons and applicators
• Hair
• Underwear
• Disposable toilet brushes
