Fluoride

Important Announcement Regarding Fluoride in Drinking Water

Under House Bill 81, recently passed by the 2025 Utah State Legislature, the addition of fluoride to public drinking water systems will be prohibited statewide. As a result, effective May 7, 2025, Granger-Hunter Improvement District will discontinue the practice of adding fluoride to the community’s drinking water supply.

Currently, the Granger-Hunter Improvement District adds fluoride to achieve a target concentration of 0.70 mg/L (0.7 parts per million). In addition to treated water, we utilize groundwater sources year-round and receive supplemental water from Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District, which contains naturally occurring fluoride levels of approximately 0.40 mg/L.

Although fluoride will no longer be added, trace amounts may still be present in the drinking water due to its natural occurrence in source water supplies.

The Granger-Hunter Improvement District remains committed to delivering safe, high-quality drinking water to our community. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at (801) 968-3551 and ask to speak with one of our Water Quality Professionals.

Thank you for your continued trust and support.
